Abstract Guidelines

  • • Abstract submission opens on 1st May and closes on 15th September 2023.
  • • Abstract has to be submitted at the dedicated portal napcon2023delhi.com after registering yourself for the conference. Registration is mandatory after submitting the abstract.
  • • The site will stop accepting abstracts from 15th September 2023.
  • • A presenting author has to submit the abstract himself/ herself.
  • • A presenting author can submit a maximum of 2 abstracts for consideration for NAPCON 2023, New Delhi.
  • • Decision of abstract evaluation will be communicated by e-mail to the submitting (presenting) author by 20th September, 2023.

Abstract preparation instructions:
  • • All abstracts must be submitted in English- Times New Roman, with a font size of 12 and double spacing. To ensure blinded review-no identifying features such as names of hospitals, medical colleges, clinics or places may be listed in the title or text of the abstract.
  • • Do not include the names of authors and their affiliations in the abstract body. There will be provision of entering author details and their affiliation(s) in the submission platform.
  • • The material in the abstract must be original and not previously published.
  • • The title should be as brief as possible but long enough to clearly indicate the nature of the study. Abbreviations must not be used in the title. The title should not be written entirely in capital letters.
  • • The size of the abstract is limited to 350 words (excluding title, authors, their affiliations etc.)
  • • Structure your abstract using the following subheadings:
    1. a. Background
    2. b. Aims & objectives
    3. c. Materials/patients & methods: Describe your selection of observations or experimental subjects precisely
    4. d. Results: Describe your results in a logical sequence
    5. e. Conclusions: Emphasise new and important aspects of the study and conclusions that are drawn from them
    6. f. Limitations
    7. g. Conflict of interest: Declaration of conflict of interest is mandatory
  • • No references, graphs, figures or tables are needed with abstract submission.
  • • Check spelling and grammar carefully. The abstract text will not be edited and will be reproduced in the submitted form in the e-abstract book.
E-POSTER PRESENTATION SPECIFICATIONS:
General specifications
  • • The E-poster will be displayed on standard 42” (Diagonal) LCD
  • • File format should be Powerpoint (.PPT)
  • • Total size of the presentation should not exceed 10-20 MB
  • • All slides should be in landscape format
  • • Animation/movies/sounds will not be supported; please submit in a static PPT format only
  • • Design specifications
    1. a. Each slide title should be placed in a title placeholder
    2. b. The text should include (most likely as separate elements of the poster) Introduction, Aim, Methods, Results, Conclusion and Acknowledgements
  • • The poster should be self explanatory. Text should be brief and well organized
  • • It is suggested that font size of the text should be at least 26 to 36 point. The typeface chosen should be a simple and clear one (e.g. Helvetica)
  • • The correct font size depend greatly on the fonts used in the ppt and the thumb rule should be that if its visible well on the computer screen it shall be visible on the E-Poster Display Screen.
  • • Color suggestions:
    1. a. When using light backgrounds (white, yellow, light blue) we suggest using dark fonts (black, navy blue, dark green)
    2. b. When using dark backgrounds (blue, purple) we suggest using light fonts (white, yellow, cyan)
    3. c. Avoid using red or green in any fonts or backgrounds as they are colors that are difficult to read
  • • Illustrations/images/photographs used in the E-poster should be enlarged enough to show relevant details
J.C.Kothari Young Scientist Award:
  • • Awarded for the best research paper submitted for presentation from delegates less than 35 years of age.
  • • The abstract should not exceed 350 words and should have the following headings: Title, Introduction, Methods, Results & Conclusion.
  • • The abstracts may be submitted online or sent to the ICS office at to secretary@icsorg.net
  • • Selected papers will be presented at the Award session during Napcon.
  • • The papers that are not selected for presentation at the awards session may be diverted for oral /poster sessions in the conference, if they are of acceptable quality.
  • • A delegate may submit a maximum of 2 abstracts, but only the better of the 2 will be eligible for presentation at the awards session.
